Land Priorities

We’re open to exploring possibilities for many types of land, but based on our current sense of community need and capacity, we’re prioritizing:

  • Land with housing and other buildings (especially when in good repair).

  • Land where new housing could be built while minimizing impact on farm and forest land.

  • Land for farming, gardening, or gathering of food & medicine

  • Forested land for community education, land connection, and (depending on the land) ecological wood harvesting for community use

  • Urban or rural buildings that can serve as community gathering space and organizational home-bases.

  • Land an buildings in or near Maine’s primary urban areas — Portland, Lewiston-Auburn, Bangor, Waterville, Augusta, etc.
